Sergio Recinos, President of the Banco Central de Guatemala, announced that a new 20 quetzales banknote commemorative of the Bicentennial of Independence (GTQ20.4) will be issued next year.

A total of 1.250,000 notes will be issued.

The design will be made public soon. The new banknote will be designed in the same style of current ones, with added mention to the commemoration, and special details.
