You saw it here first…

W.D. Laksman, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, has announced today that a new banknote of 2,000 rupees (LKR2,000.2) will be issued this year.

This new banknote will be part of the current family. It may probably be dedicated to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Central Bank, as it was previously announced in January of 2020.
