The National Bank of Romania announced today that on 14 September 2026 it will issue a polymer banknote of 100 lei (RON10.5) commemorating the 190th Anniversary of the birth of its founder, Eugeniu Carada.
This is a numismatic product not intended for general circulation, of which only 16.000 pieces will be issued at the price of RON240 (= USD53) which includes VAT and a presentation leaflet. Also there will be a special sheet with 4 notes, priced at RON840 (= USD186.) These are available in a limited way at the main office and certain branches of the National Bank of Romania.
The front shows the portrait of Carada and a view of the Counters Hall of the National Bank, with its building on the back.
