Bank Negara Malaysia is issuing new banknotes commemorative of the 60th Anniversary of the Signing of the Federation of Malaysia Independence Agreement of August 1957. These were unveiled today by King Muhammad V of Kelantan at the Museum of the Central Bank. These notes are printed on a composite substrate.
There will be three options:
A 600 ringgit banknote (MYR600.1) of which 6,000 pieces will be issued and offered at the price of MYR1,700;
a 60 ringgit banknote (MYR60.1) of which 60,000 pieces will be issued and offered at the price of MYR120; and
an uncut sheet of 3 notes of 60 ringgit of which 6,000 pieces will be issued and offered at the price of MYR500.
Sale is limited to one 600 ringgit note, one uncut sheet, and 5 regular 60 ringgit notes per person. These can be ordered online from January 5, 2018. In case of oversubscription, balloting will take place.
Banknotes with “fancy” serial numbers will be sold by auction.
