Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Madras Private Limited, the printing subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India has called for a Global Expression of Interest from fiscal printers and manufacturers to supply polymer substrate sheets embedded with security features for printing Indian banknotes.
The EOI seeks 68,000 reams of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene, 34,000 for each of two denominations.
Requirements include a clear window, metallic numeral, magnetic pseudo thread, shadow image and iridescent pattern suitable for printing at both the RBI subsidiary and the Security Printing and Minting Corporation India Ltd.
Apparently these materials are intended for the printing of 10 and 20 rupees notes.
Special conditions require that offers from China and Pakistan must be presented by Indian based companies, must not source raw material from either country, and not engage personnel who have worked in China or Pakistan in any capacity.
