The Banco Central de Honduras informed yesterday 23 August 2023 that it is in the process of issuing a new banknote of 200 lempiras (HNL200.2) honoring Berta Isabel Caceres Flores, environmental activist and indigenous leader Assassinated in March 2016, as mandated by Legislative Decree 62-2022 of 25 May 2022.

The new banknote will show her image and her phrase “Despierta humanidad, despierta humanidad” (Wake up Humankind, wake up Humankind).
