Banco Central de Honduras announced yesterday that it will issue in March improved banknotes of 100 lempiras (HNL100.4) and 500 lempiras (HNL500.4.)

Their main security features are:

  1. Optical variable ink imprint which changes from gold to green in the 100 lempiras, and green to blue in the 500 one,
  2. Security strip with “dynamic movement” and “BCH” in microprinting, green for the 100 lempiras, and purple in the 500 lempiras.
  3. Watermark repeating the portraits, with initials BCH,
  4. Perfect register imprint on both sides, which when seen through the light shows the face value and the letters BCH,
  5. UV light visible imprint,
  6. Security fibers visible under UV  light, and
  7. Bank’s logo on the back.

The basic designs remain unchanged.
