Banco Central de Honduras announced yesterday that it will issue in March improved banknotes of 100 lempiras (HNL100.4) and 500 lempiras (HNL500.4.)
Their main security features are:
- Optical variable ink imprint which changes from gold to green in the 100 lempiras, and green to blue in the 500 one,
- Security strip with “dynamic movement” and “BCH” in microprinting, green for the 100 lempiras, and purple in the 500 lempiras.
- Watermark repeating the portraits, with initials BCH,
- Perfect register imprint on both sides, which when seen through the light shows the face value and the letters BCH,
- UV light visible imprint,
- Security fibers visible under UV light, and
- Bank’s logo on the back.
The basic designs remain unchanged.
