Having received a new order of banknotes printed by PWPW, Da Afghanistan Bank will start tomorrow 29 July the process of redeeming the mutilated ones, which now form a substantial portion of the currency in circulation, especially in the lower denominations.

Up to now there were serious problems for the population because most of the small banknotes of 1; 5; 10; 20; 50 and 100 afghanis were in very poor condition, and refused by merchants, who in turn could not deposit them in banks or using them to buy supplies.

There will be no fee for the exchange.
