The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates announced today that its new polymer banknote of 1,000 dirhams (AED1,000.5) will be released to circulation this coming Monday 10 April.

It is printed on polymer substrate and has several advanced security features.

The front shows the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and a model of a space shuttle. In the back it is shown the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
