In the past Sweden has chosen to remain outside the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II), a requirement for euro adoption, but now, given the new USA-NATO situation the idea became more appealing.

Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson has declared recently that Sweden will not be adopting the euro currency in the foreseeable future.
