Several sources in Samoa informed that the Central Bank of Samoa’s revealed a new banknote of 60 tala commemorative of Samoa’s 60th Anniversary on Independence (WST60.1) to be issued on 31 May 2023.

It shows in the front the portrait of  the current Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, first female to have this position in Samoa, and in the back the country’s first Prime Minister Fiame Mata’afa Faumuina II, lowering New Zealand’s flag in 1962.

It is printed on paper substrate, with a wide segmented security band, and anew watermark featuring a teuila flower and the letters CBS.
