The National Bank of Romania has issued today a new banknote of 20 lei (RON20.1). It was first reported to be planned in August 2019. It was intended to fill the gap between the 10 and 50 lei notes, and to honor a a woman, Ecaterina Teodoroiu, a heroine of World War I.

The note is printed of polymer substrate, measures 136 x 77 mm, and has many public and secret anti-forgery features.
