José Cantero, Governor of the Banco Central del Paraguay, announced today that the process of the issue of a new family of notes is progressing.
He mentioned that the exercise included the participation of representatives of cultural, historical and scientifically institutions, as well as the advice from international experts.
Their presentation to the public is slated for October 5.
The designs of new notes will show the history, culture, fauna and flora of Paraguay.
In the first stage the denominations of 5,000 guaraníes (PYG5,000.5); 50,000 guaraníes (50,000.5) and 100,000 guaraníes (100,000.4) will be issued.
Older banknotes will continue to be legal tender.
