Local sources inform that a shipment of banknotes of 20 rufiyaa (MVR20.3B) arrived today. Most likely these include the new currency symbol.

Their arrival will resolve the acute shortage of banknotes of this denomination, which are widely used as gifts for the coming feast of Ramadan.
