Bank of Mauritius reminded the public that the paper 2,000 rupees banknotes (MUR2,000.2) will cease to be legal tender as of January 31st.

Afterwards these may be redeemed at the offices of the Bank of Mauritius upon presentation of proof of identity. Proof of origin of funds may also be required irrespective of amount, at the discretion of the Bank.
