According to press reports the Banque Centrale de Mauritanie is planning to replace its banknotes. A Canadian company has been contacted to prepare the new notes in all denominations from 100 to 5,000 ougiya, to be printed on polymer. Most likely current banknotes will be retired soon after the new ones are issued.
