Law Nbr 6/217 requires declaration of incoming transport of currency domestic or foreign and bearer instruments, such as traveler checks, or checks without name, in amounts of or above MOP120,000 or its equivalent.

The export needs not be declared, unless required to do so by a Customs officer.

Violations of this law are punished by a fine of 1% to 5% of the amount involved, with a minimum of MOP1,000 and maximum of MOP500,000.

Each form has room for three lines. If more of three currencies or classes of instruments are imported, additional forms must be completed.
