The Central Bank of Liberia announced recently that it will print banknotes of 5 dollars (LRD5.2) and 10 dollars (LRD10.2) instead of minting more coins.

The reason given is that the public prefers them over coins. It must be noted that the face value of these banknotes is less than 3 and 6 U.S. cents respectively, which is the approximate cost of printing them.
