The National Bank of Kazakhstan will introduce between 2023 and 2025 a new “SAKA” family of banknotes.
These will be of reduced size and incorporate many new security features.
The details about the new notes are :
KZT500.6 500 tenge 2025 70 x 125 mm. Expected to be issued in 2025.
KZT1,000.9 1,000 tenge 2024 70 x 130 mm. Expected to be issued in the 3rd. quarter of 2024.
KZT2,000.6 2,000 tenge 2024 70 x 135 mm. Expected to be issued in mid-2024.
KZT5,000.7 5,000 tenge 2023 70 x 140 mm. Expected to be issued in December 2023.
KZT10,000. 5 10,000 tenge 2023 70 x 145 mm. Expected to be issued in the 2nd. quarter of 2024.
KZT20,000.3 20,000 tenge 2025 70 x 150mm. Expected to be issued in 2025.
The banknotes of previous issues will cease to be legal tender one year after the release of each new denomination, and be redeemable at banks and post offices for three years afterwards.
The National Bank of Kazakhstan will redeem them without time limit.
