The Reserve Bank of India announced today the withdrawal from circulation of their 2,000 rupees notes (INR2,000.1).

These notes remain current until 30 September 2023 when they both end their legal tender status and become worthless.

Banks do accept them for deposit at client accounts, with the usual limitations.

Their exchange for smaller banknotes is limited to INR20,000 at a time starting 23 May 2023.
