The Falkland Island Treasury Department announced on 4 December 2025 the withdrawal from circulation of paper notes of 5 pounds (FKP5.1 and .2,) 10 pounds (FKP10.2) and 20 pounds (FKP20.2) effective 30 April 2026. After that date these notes are redeemable at the Treasury Excheqer Office. These notes have been replaced by the polymer ones issued in August 2025.

The paper banknotes of 50 pounds continue to be in circulation.
