Bank of England presented today the new polymer banknotes with the portrait of King Charles III.

The new banknotes will be released to circulation in mid-2024. Current notes with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II will remain in circulation, and will be replaced only when unfit for use. This was requested by the Royal House to reduce the environmental and financial impact of the change.
