According to multiple sources in the social media Nayib Bukele, El Salvador’s president, has proposed the end of dollarization and the return to the issue of Salvadorian colones.

On 1st January 2001 El Salvador adopted the Monetary Integration Act which made the United States dollar legal tender and retired from circulation the Salvadorian colones banknotes at the rate of SVC8.75 for each U.S. dollar.
