An official from the Central Bank of Egypt denied this week reports appearing in social media about the issue in July of a new banknote of 500 Egyptian pounds (= USD12.63).

He stated that the public should only rely on information published in the webpage of the Central Bank.

(N.R. As this seems to be a lukewarm denial, there is more than a 50% chance that such denomination is in the works)
