Billete de ₡1.000 series A y B dejarán de funcionar como medio de pago en Costa Rica

The Central Bank of Costa Rica has announced on 30 May 2025 that the banknotes of 1,000 colones dated 2009 with serial number prefix “A” (CRC1,000.3) and 2013 with prefix “B” (CRC1,000.4) will cease to be legal tender as of 1st November 2025. Afterward these may be deposited to bank accounts or presented for redemption at commercial banks without time limit. Deposits or redemption of large amounts may be subject to Anti Money Laundering restrictions.
