The new banknote of 100,000 pesos (COP100,000.1) issued in April 2016 is seldom seen in circulation.

This is due to several reasons, it is of relatively high value (USD35.00), not practical for retail transactions; its larger size makes it unsuitable for the cash dispensing machines; and the public is afraid of getting stuck with a forgery, of which there are already some in circulation.
