The Central Bank of Bolivia announced yesterday 2 June 2025 that it has issued the first denomination of its Series B banknotes, a 100 bolivianos (BOB100.2B) which has several improvements with respect to the ones of the Series A issued in 2019.

These are:

  1. Security strip with changing colors and motion effect,
  2. Improved high relief printing,
  3. Tricolor fluorescent fibers embedded in the paper substrate, visible under UV light,
  4. Layers on both sides of the 100% cotton substrate, for longer life and protection against dirt,
  5. Microprinting on both sides of the note, and
  6. Use of magnetic and infrared inks to facilitate reading by cash processing equipment.

The other denominations of this Series B family of notes will be issued gradually.

Older notes of the 1985 and 2019 series continue to be legal tender, and will be retired as they become unfit.
