The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe is designing a second family of ZiG banknotes. Only the notes of 10 (ZWG10.1) and 20 ZiG (ZWG20.1) were issued for the first series issued in April 2024.

The new notes will have improved security features, and will be printed on better substrate. This new family will cover all the denominations originally planned in 2024.

Zimbabwe is now a multicurrency market where ZiG notes make a third of the money in circulation. The balance are mainly U.S. dollars and other major currencies, plus South African rands and Botswana pula.
