Excellent quality “Super dollar” forgeries of banknotes of 100 dollars of the 2006 Series have been passed in Barcelona and other European cities in recent weeks.

 

These forgeries are of the highest quality, with different Federal Reserve Bank seals and plate letter/number combinations. These very small plate numbers are located in the front at the lower left corner, and at lower center right, between the portrait and the signature; and in the back at the lower right corner. 

 

These may be linked to the ones produced years ago by North Korea in its infamous “Section 39.”

 

In Barcelona the perpetrators were individuals carrying Ukrainian passports, trying to exchange into euros quantities between USD5,000 and USD9,000.
