All banknotes of 1; 2; 5 and 10 hriven are being retired from circulation, and ceased to be legal tender on 1 January 2026.

These are of very low value and very few remain in use. Coins have replaced them.

They are redeemable for limited time at many financial institutions, and without time limit at the National Bank of Ukraine.
