Viktor Savenko, Director of the Department of Monetary Circulation of the National Bank of Ukraine, declared that the issue of polymer currency is not being contemplated.

He cited that the Mint recently re-equipped its paper money production line, and that buying new machines capable of printing polymer notes would be very expensive. 

To utilize its excess capacity the Mint has recently entered into a cooperation agreement with Crane to accommodate foreign banknote orders.
