There are comments in the Turkish press about the problems caused by the fact that the largest banknote in circulation, the note of 200 lira (TRY200.1), is worth only USD5.79.
When originally issued in 2009 it was worth about USD135.00.
The absence of larger notes forces banks to replenish ATMs thrice a day.
