The import or export of foreign currencies in amounts of or exceeding the equivalent of TND20,000 is subject to declaration to Customs. The import or export of Tunisian dinars is forbidden.
Non resident travelers leaving with currency equivalent to TND5,000 or more, that they have previously imported, must file a declaration with Customs.
The Currency Declaration is only valid for three months
The export of a currency different from the one declared on arrival is problematic.
Amounts equivalent to TND30,000 or more can only be exported by bank transfer.
The reconversion of local currency requires the presentation of receipts of prior conversion of foreign currency to Tunisian dinars at a bank or official bureau de change.
