Abdul Qader al-Husriyieh, Governor of the Central Bank of the Central Bank of Syria, announced today that the new redenominated banknotes will be released to circulation on 1st January 2026. Each new Syrian pound will be equal to 100 of the current ones.

Decree No. 293/2025 describes the process of issue of the new notes and withdrawal of the older ones, which will be conducted in an orderly way.
