The Decree No. 293/2025 gives details of the re-denomination of the Syrian currency.

They are:

1. Circulation of re-denominated banknotes will start of 1st January 2026.
2. The new Syrian pound is equal to 100 old Syrian pounds.
3. Old banknotes will co-circulate for 90 days after the corresponding new denomination is issued. This limit may be extended for additional 30 days.
4. The first phase will focus on the withdrawal of old notes of 1000; 2000 and 5000 old Syrian pounds,
5. New contracts must clearly state that they are transacted in new Syrian pounds.
