The International Monetary Fund has issued its Country Report No. 17/204 of July 2017 about Somalia in which they mention that they are advancing their plans for the eventual issue of new notes. They are studying anti-counterfeiting measures and the designs for the proposed notes intended to replace the current 1,000 shillings notes that have been widely counterfeited.
