We have received a report from a traveler arriving to Seychelles with currency valued at more than the equivalent of USD10,000, for which he made before boarding the plane the online declaration required. He told on arrival that there was no declaration to be found. Apparently his declaration “disappeared”, ergo he was in violation of the law.
When he presented documentation to show origin of funds, he was told that it was not valid, because it did not show the serial numbers of all the banknotes involved (!!!). Therefore all his money was impounded, even as he showed Customs declarations from the countries he traversed to arrive to Seychelles.
He was told that the case is under investigation, and because many currencies are involved, it may take several years.
