The Banque des Etats de l’Afrique Centrale has decided to actively withdraw from circulation the 2015 notes of 500 (XAF500.2B); 1,000 (XAF1,000.2B) and 2,000 francs (XAF2,0002B.) These notes are on a “one way” mode, but continue to be legal tender.
These notes are printed on a “sandwich” substrate composed of paper covered on each side with a thin layer of a plastic material. It turned out that after little use these layers started to unglue from the base paper.
