The National Bank of Rwanda issued on 3 September 2024 new banknotes of 2,000 francs (RWF2,000.3) and 5,000 francs (RWF5,000.8).

The note of 2,000 francs shows in front Lake Kivu, with coffee beans in the back. The one of 5,000 francs has in front the Kigali Convention Centre, and two baskets and a jug in the back.
