Bank Rossiya confirmed that the time, 20.22 in the 24h notation, shown on the clock in the Spasskaya Tower on its new banknote of 100 rubles (RUB100.6), is a reference to 2022, the year of issue.

Several sources mentioned that the QR code which links to the webpage of Bank Rossiya with description of its security features, is in reality a “spying” feature that will allow authorities to trace cash to their owners.

This is unlikely because the technology to scan banknotes serial numbers as they pass through advanced processing equipment, such as ATM’s or banknote counters or verifiers already exists and is in use worldwide.
