Bank of Russia has unveiled a redesigned 1,000-ruble banknote dedicated to the Volga Federal District and Nizhny Novgorod. It features the Nikolskaya Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin on the front, and on the reverse the Saratov road bridge, the Meteor 120R hydrofoil, and the Kazan Palace of Farmers.

In 2023 a different note was presented, but its release to circulation was blocked because of objections from religious authorities. 

The new note will be released to circulation in 2026.
