26 February 2026.
Banco Central de Reservas del Perú announced yesterday that a new variety of the 200 soles banknote dated 3 October 2024 (PEN200.4B) has been issued.
This banknote has an improved 5 mm segmented security strip, instead of the 4 mm strip of the 2021 variety (PEN200.4A.)
Both varieties as well and the previous notes dated 2009 and 2012 (PEN200.2 and 3) continue to circulate. The older ones dated 1995 are still legal tender, but many merchants have not seen them in many years, so they assume they are no longer current.
