The Central Bank of the D.P.R. of Korea has issued early this year vouchers of 50,000 won (KPW50,000.1), a concept similar to the one used for recent 5,000 won coupons (KPW5,000). At the informal rate of exchange they are worth some 6 U.S. dollars.
U.S. dollars are widely used, and accepted in commerce at the informal rate of about 8,000 per dollar, rather than the official rate of 900. Chinese yuan are also very common in commerce.
