The National Bank of Kazakhstan announced yesterday that many banknotes of 1.000; 2,000; 5,000 and 10,000 tenge will be withdrawn from circulation between now and 2028. They will continue to be legal tender until the withdrawal date, and will be redeemable without time limit afterward.

These are:

1,000 tenge  2010 (KZT1,000.4) / 2011 (KZT1,000.5) / 2011 (KZT1,000.6) / 2014 (KZT1,000.7) and 2016 (KZT1,000.8) which cease to circulate on 27 March 2027.

2,000 tenge  2006 (KZT2,000.3) / (KZT2,000.4) and 2013 (KZT2,000.5) which cease to circulate on 24 June 2026.

5,000 tenge  2011 (KZT5,000.4) and (KZT5,000.5), which cease to circulate on 24 September 2025.

10,000 tenge  2006 (KZT10,000.1) / 2011 (KZT10,000.2) / 2011 (KZT10,000.3) / 2016 (KZT10,000.4) and 2023 (KZT10,000.5) which cease to circulate on 27 June 2028.
