Banco de México announced today the release to circulation of its banknote of 200 pesos of the new family (MXN200.7).
The new banknote has advanced security features, and shows in the front the portraits of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and José María Morelos y Pavón. In the back it has the images of a “royal eagle”, a saguaro (cactus) and a view of the biosphere “El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar”. This is a very rugged terrain that has been named “Patrimony of Humanity” by UNESCO. This area has been used by American astronauts to train for their trips to the Moon.
