Bank Foiben’i Madagasikara, the Central Bank, is conducting studies and consultations with experts, academics and the general public about different approaches to restructure its monetary system.

The Bank is considering to remove two zeros, and to issue a new family of notes expressed in the new currency.

Another option is to issue new banknotes of higher denominations, i.e. 50,000 and 100,000 ariary (worth USD 12 and 24 respectively.)
