Senator Marshall A. Dennis, Chair of the Liberian Senate Committee on Banking and Currency, has informed that 40 million new banknotes of 100 Liberian dollars (LRD100.3) will arrive by air in November. This is half of the total print of 80 million notes. The other half will arrive by sea freight.
Additional banknotes of other denominations in the amount of 40 billion Liberian dollars are to be delivered later.
This injection of new cash is designed to relieve the scarcity of currency, especially because many of the current banknotes are in very poor condition.
