The Central Bank of Lesotho has put in circulation on 4 January 2022 its new family of improved banknotes.
While their designs are similar to the previous banknotes, security features have been improved by the addition of tactile marks to help the blind and sight impaired, which required an enlargement of the banknotes sizes, an antiviral coat, and changes in the location of the security stripe. The 200 maloti note is no longer printed on hybrid substrate. The polymer band was found to cause rapid wear reducing their expected lifespan.
The MRI BANKERS’ GUIDE TO FOREIGN CURRENCY numbers for the new notes will be:
10 maloti LSL10.6
20 maloti LSL20.6
50 maloti LSL50.4
100 maloti LSL100.4
200 maloti LSL200.3
