The Central Bank of Kenya has announced this week that it will refresh its current banknotes with advanced security features.

The new notes will be dated 2024, will be similar to the previous ones dated 2019, except por the security features, and will be printed in Germany, most likely by Giesecke & Devrient.

The ones of 1,000 shillings (KES1,000.3B) are the first to be issued soon, with the other denominations of 50 shillings (KES50.6b); 100 shillings (KES100.8b); 200 shillings (KES200.6B) and 500 shillings (KES500.4B) to be released as stocks of the 2019 notes are exhausted.
